Dog collars are an integral part of controlling and training your dog. What is more, many cities have passed leash laws which require owners to have a leash on their dog whenever they are in public places. Dog collars have to be used with a balanced approach. No matter what kind of collar you choose, all of them can potentially hurt your dog. Try to resist the temptation of constantly pulling on the leash to exert control. Your dog may not show immediate signs of tracheal damage, but it can develop over time. If he's particularly obstinate, let a trainer take care of the problem. Chances are, a trainer will have a much better idea of how much force to use without causing lasting damage.
