Those First Few Days When you bring home your new dog the first few days in their new home can be difficult for both you and the puppy because you're both are trying to adapt to an unfamiliar situation. Just think about it, the puppy finds itself suddenly taken from their mother and litter mates and now is expected to fit right in to very different way of life. Now with some patience and a sense of humor, you both can survive those first few days with good feelings for you and your canine buddy. When Is The Best Time To Bring Your Puppy Home? Most Labradoodle breeders suggest that seven weeks is a good time for Labradoodles to go to their new home, with six to eight weeks the best age range. If you bring home a six- to eight-week old puppy just be aware that they need a lot of rest and will take naps in the morning and afternoon. For the first couple of days, they might be excited and spend most of the day exploring their new home. And as long as they're not hurting themselves or being destructive, let them investigate whatever strikes their fancy. If your Labradoodle puppy is eight weeks old when you bring them home, you'll need to be patient. This is period is filled with fear and sharp noises or rough treatment leave them fearful which can take months for them to overcome. Let them take time to become acquainted with their new environment and stay away from places where they could hear loud and frightening sounds. And trips to the vet should be made before or after the eighth week. If your puppy is ten to twelve weeks old when they're brought home, they'll be more rambunctious and subsequently sleep less during the day. However, at ten to twelve weeks you can get their attention easily and they'll definitely want to please you and stay close to you a majority of the time.
